The 1 year old

Another baby is 1. So, I guess, not a baby anymore.

Well, he still can act like a baby. 🙂

Have him turn 1 is so exciting, but a little bittersweet.  It is all going so quickly.  The growing, the milestones, the accomplishments, the days, and now the entire year.

I’m going to tag the post from his birth story so I can relive that glorious, God-ordained day, and you can too if you’re interested 🙂

Olson Emmanuel’s birth story

At least it’s not 40 degrees below 0 today. 🙂

Ms Virginia

Our sweet Virginia left this earth earlier this week

Breaking the news to Mylin was surprisingly heartbreaking as she burst into tears on daddy’s lap.  A parent can never be fully prepared for the honest emotions and faith of a child.

We are so thankful to have enjoyed the gift of her friendship for 2 years.  Her presence in our lives provided many opportunities to teach our children about service, respect, love, humility, and lastly, the importance of eternal life

She was a part of our family…

Family Mission Statement, Rules, Values, Vows, and Verse

We did it.  Finally put this all together (by God’s grace and my husband’s intentionality).

The Draper Family Mission Statement: Every day we will joyfully choose to love and serve God and our neighbors.

The Draper Family Verse:  Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with the gratitude in your hearts.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

– Colossians 3:12-17

The Draper Family House Rules:

1. Love God
2. Obey Right Away
3. Have a Happy Heart
4. Be Kind
5. Work Hard

The Draper Family Values: To intentionally practice humility, forgiveness, self-control, joy, patience, grace, service, love, and prayer with our family, friends, and the world.

The Draper Parent’s Vows: To treat our children gently, provide consistency, and be trustworthy

The Draper Kids Expectations: To honor and obey daddy and mommy, always being honest

Our sweet Virginia got to meet Mr. Olson several weeks ago:

She loves spending time with our kids when we get a chance to go next door and visit – and we love to visit with her and learn so much from her amazing life of 93 years!

Thankful for neighbors and friendships and God planting us down right where we are 🙂

5 weeks old!

This sweet doll baby: Olson's firth month 017Is 5 weeks old!!!!!!!

Man he’s cute.  And huge.  He’s wearing a 6 month onesie in this picture taken today because he weighs NEARLY 13 POUNDS!!!

Yeah, I know. Whoa.

What a blessing he’s been to our family.  He has calmly slipped right into our routine and I am so thankful for this newborn to provide me with so many opportunities to be patient, selfless, and gracious.  God has so intricately woven His lessons into each experience of our lives.  THANK YOU GOD for gifting us with sweet Olson and all the lessons that go along with him 🙂

Here are few photos of our first month 🙂

Snowed in

We’ve been snowed in since the day Olson was born!  First at the hospital and now at home 🙂  With few outings, we’ve had to get creative to keep from being bored, and also have taken some pictures to document our time as a family of five!  Here’s the rundown:
